How frequently should I examine pump and cyclone internals for wear?
This will depend largely on the characteristics of your feed material and the care with which you feed the plant. As a rule, sharp/crushed material will cause more rapid wear within the sand processing section, while natural (well-rounded) material will mean reduced wear. Initially, we’d recommend an internal examination after six months’ operation (three months if you know your feed contains sharp or angular sand). Regular periodicity may be adjusted from this initial and the subsequent inspections.
What outward signs of internal wear should I look out for?
Increased clean water consumption and/or reduced product quality indicate that the plant is overdue a maintenance inspection. Frequent nuisance trips or automated material stoppages also suggest that wear is taking place.
How frequently should I drain down and inspect the sump and pipe-work for wear?
The plant should always be drained down in preparedness for cold weather or prolonged shutdown and these events present an ideal opportunity to carry out an ad hoc inspection of the wetted components. Otherwise, a visual inspection of these areas should be timed to coincide with the inspection of the pump and cyclone internal linings.
How frequently and with what quantity should I grease the conveyor bearings?
To ensure adequate grease at the conveyor bearings while guarding against their becoming over maintained, our standard conveyors are equipped with pre-charged auto-lube cartridges that should be replaced every six months.

How do I maximise product yield?
Maximum product yield — both instantaneously and over its entire service life — will be realised by ensuring the plant is proactively maintained, and fed constantly and consistently at all times.
How do I minimise clean water consumption?
The plant has been designed to utilise as little clean water as is required to produce acceptably clean products – the balance of process water in use is re-circulated within the process. Clean water supply should therefore be adjusted with reference to product quality and minimised accordingly.
How do I optimise the product yield versus wear/downtime?
Overfeeding, stop/start feeding and varying feed material characteristic will result in high wear, increased automated trips/material stoppages and unscheduled downtime. Continuous operation for eight hours at 90% of rated feed — without incidence of nuisance tripping — will mean a greater yield of higher quality products combined with reduced wear than operation at 100% capacity for seven hours due to repeated material stoppage.
