Rotary Scrubber Maintenance

How do I check the drum alignment?

The drum alignment will be supported by individual trunnion bases or a motor/reducer base, depending on the design of your Rotary Scrubber. Refer to the Installation, Operation and Maintenance Manual for the proper replacement procedure.

Can I replace the cylinder? What about the trunnion tires?

Both the cylinder and trunnion tires are replaceable. The replacement procedure can be found in the Maintenance section of the Installation, Operation and Maintenance Manual.

Which components need lubricated?

The chain oiler/gear spray lube system and trunnion rollers. More information on the lubrication requirements can be found in the Installation, Operation and Maintenance Manual.

How will I know if the drum is misaligned?

One sign of a misaligned drum is uneven wear on the trunnion rollers and cylinder tire. Another sign of drum misalignment is if the drum is riding against the thrust rollers rather than floating between them. Additional information can be found in the Installation, Operation and Maintenance Manual.

Operational Best Practices

How can I increase or decrease material retention time?

You can increase and decrease material retention time by adjusting the weir located at the end of the Rotary Scrubber.

What percent solids should I feed the Scrubber?

Try to maintain a feed solids percentage of 50-60%. Feeds with a lower percentage of solids can affect the length of scrubber needed for the required tonnage.

Can a Scrubber break down loamy clays? What about plastic or tacky clays?

Rotary Scrubbers are best used to break down soluble, loamy clays. For tacky type clays, consider a Log Washer.

Should I screen the feed before it enters the Scrubber?

To achieve a better scrubbing of the coarse fraction in most applications, remove the -10mm size before it enters the Scrubber.
