Cornell Recovers 97% Of Their Sand With SMS12

The College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University needed a way to handle the sand-laden manure at their Teaching Dairy Barn. McLanahan worked with the staff at the Teaching Dairy Barn to develop a system that fit the needs of their 150-cow dairy. The resulting SMS12 is a sand separation system for smaller dairies that has allowed the Teaching Dairy to recover up to 97% of their sand, therefore reducing the amount of sand they have to buy and saving them money.
