McLanahan Marks 30 Years Of Serving The Dairy Industry

Hollidaysburg, Pa., July 2, 2026 — McLanahan Corporation is marking 30 years of providing solutions to the dairy industry, a milestone that reflects decades of collaboration with dairy producers to address operational challenges and improve long-term performance.

Founded in 1835 as a foundry operation in Hollidaysburg, PA, McLanahan quickly evolved into a supplier of aggregate and minerals processing equipment. Over the past 190 years, they have been responsible for the innovation of new materials processing techniques and equipment for these industries. In 1996, they found a way to apply this mining-duty technology to the dairy industry, resulting in a huge step forward to sand recycling and recovery for freestall bedding.

Since entering the dairy market, McLanahan has focused on developing solutions that help producers manage manure, recover sand and operate more efficiently. What began as applying proven separation technologies to dairy applications has evolved into a comprehensive approach to manure management.

“Our work in the dairy industry has always started with listening to producers and understanding the realities of their operations,” said Renee Schrift, Global Director of Sales, Agricultural Systems, at McLanahan. “Over the past 30 years, that collaboration has shaped solutions that are practical, reliable and built to perform in demanding environments.”

McLanahan’s role in the dairy industry has been defined by its ability to apply engineering expertise to everyday operational needs. From sand separation systems to manure processing, the solutions are designed to help producers:

  • Improve equipment longevity through effective sand recovery.
  • Simplify manure handling in freestall barns.
  • Lower overall operating costs through efficient system design.

This measured, performance-driven approach has enabled McLanahan to support dairies of all sizes across North America and in key global markets.

Rather than offering one-size-fits-all systems, McLanahan works directly with producers, engineers and consultants to design solutions tailored to each operation. That emphasis on partnership has been constant over three decades.

“Every dairy is different, and success depends on understanding those differences,” said Schrift. “Our team takes a practical approach, combining field experience with process knowledge to deliver systems that work as intended and continue to deliver value over time.”

As dairy operations face increasing pressure to improve efficiency and environmental performance, McLanahan remains focused on helping producers adapt with solutions grounded in proven technology.

“While the industry has changed significantly over the last 30 years, the need for dependable, well-engineered solutions hasn’t,” added Mark Sell, Director of Global Engineering, Agricultural Systems. “We see continued opportunity to help producers get more out of their systems while managing resources responsibly.”

McLanahan Corporation is a fifth and sixth generation family-owned company that provides materials processing equipment for the mining, aggregate and agricultural industries. Founded in 1835 in Hollidaysburg, Pa., USA, the company now has offices to provide local service and support to customers in Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America, MENA, and North America.
