McLanahan Releases Additional Details On Recently Launched Bucket Wheel

Hollidaysburg, Pa., July 31, 2026 — McLanahan Corporation is excited to release more information on the newest expansion of their washing line, the McLanahan Bucket Wheel. The Bucket Wheel is a continuous, high‑throughput machine for washing, classifying, and dewatering sand or gravel.
With the addition of the Bucket Wheel, McLanahan is the only manufacturer to offer a full range of equipment for handling any water volume present in a slurry feed. This range allows McLanahan to provide a tailored solution for each site’s specific needs to help achieve optimal performance, efficiency and reliability across a wide range of applications.
As the wheel rotates through the slurry tank, each bucket cuts into the settled solids layer and lifts material out of the water. The buckets are designed to let process water drain while retaining the solids. Siphon tubes return the captured water back into the tank, improving water recovery.
McLanahan Bucket Wheels rotate at a slow speed to allow as much water as possible to drain from the material before discharge, making them ideal for high-volume slurries. Product leaving the Bucket Wheel can contain up to 25% moisture, leaving the product conveyable or stackable. When a dryer product is required, the material can be further processed with a Dewatering Screen to achieve a drip‑free final product. An auxiliary discharge outlet allows the recovery of near-sized solids before they settle in the tank or overflow the discharge weirs to create a second product.
Available in single and double units, McLanahan Bucket Wheels range in size from 28” to 36” in width with capacities of 350 to 1060 STPH. They also operate at low horsepower and are driven by one motor and gearbox, allowing them to have a smaller footprint.
The McLanahan Bucket Wheel is suitable for applications with high water volumes, especially from a dredge. It can handle fluctuations in feed better than a Fine Material Screw Washer while classifying the material just as well. The Bucket Wheel can also be used as a free-settling classifier where the buckets are used to remove solids.
McLanahan Bucket Wheels can be paired with other equipment from McLanahan’s line of washing equipment to create an entire wet processing system designed to fit each site’s needs.
With more than 190 years of experience delivering innovative processing solutions, McLanahan remains committed to helping producers operate more efficiently, safely and sustainably. Backed by a global support network and a team of skilled engineers, the company continues to design equipment and systems that allow customers to meet demands.
